with the Incubator
The University of Florida’s Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator is a pioneer in bio-business incubation and a unique component of UF’s successful commercialization efforts (Business Week). Our 40,000 SF customized facility features 22 wet labs, $1 million of shared equipment, an animal facility, pilot fermentation facility, and climate controlled greenhouses.
We actively court experienced management and investor groups. Our companies have attracted $300 million in investment and $100 million in grant awards. The program placed second in an international competition for technology incubator of the year. See Inside the Incubator for details.
We launched Florida BioDatabase.com to offer a single source of searchable information on all Florida biotech and bio-medical device companies. Updated several times a year, each company has a profile showing address, website, private vs. public ownership, founding date, region, sector, technology area, research focus, types of products, and recent funding (if publicly disclosed). In late 2009 we will expand the database to include all Florida medical device companies with an R&D component.
