Members of the BAC serve as advisors for the Incubator. They participate in the review of applications for admission and in company annual reviews for renewal terms. They are drawn from academic, industry and financial sectors.
The BAC is comprised of venture capitalists, experienced bio-entrepreneurs and service providers for the life science industry. It is a vital component of the Incubator program. Its members use industry, business and technical expertise to assist in evaluating applicant companies to determine their suitability for admission to the Incubator program. They review client companies annually to determine their business and technology progress and suitability for a renewal term. They provide client companies with guidance directly and by facilitating introductions, both with committee members’ own organizations as well as others where strong personal connections and relationships exist. The BAC advocates for UF’s efforts to enhance commercialization of life science technology and grow a local biotechnology cluster.
